Ashkenazi Hater ( Ariel Toaff) allowed to Teach at The University of Tel-Aviv ( Formerly also in Bar Ilan University)
I am completely flabbergasted at the low standards held by some Israeli Universities.
No wonder these Universities will produce students who are left-Leaning, Self-Hating Jews who promote BDS and dangerous propaganda that harms Jews worldwide and the State of Israel.
I read a lot, sometimes much more than I should. so In between my weekly Parashat, Talmud and Mishnah studies I like to read other books that can give me different, historical perspectives.
Today was the day I started reading a Book, " Pasque di Sangue: Ebrei d'Europa e omicidi rituali " by Ariel Toaff. I expected it to be a reasonable, impartial and well researched book ( after all the Book was allegedly written by the son of the Chief Rabbi of Italy, therefore someone who is supposed well versed in Halacha, Jewish customs, holidays and religious habits.
The book however reads very painfully as a Hate campaign targeting Jews, specially those of Germanic Origins ( Ashkenazim) with the Occasional attack on Middle Eastern and Sephardic Jews. Only Italian Jews seem to be somewhat spared, but even them have some very negative aspects.
It seems as though the author himself is not well informed about Jewish history, culture or traditions. The author seems to praise highly Jews who convert to Christianity and be very slanderous towards Observant Jews, specially Ashkenazim, accusing them of diverse versions of Blood Libel, cannibalism etc.
For someone who wasn't born Jewish I was aghast while reading certain of his conclusions that were nowhere near reasonable nor based on any verifiable and rational motive.
This Author feeds vile conspiracy theories about economic manipulation and dishonesty of Jews towards gentiles. specially Ashkenazi Jews. He goes on to accuse Ashkenazi Jews of Paganism and every blood ritual under the sun even going as far as accusing Jewish women of Praying to the " Virgin Mary" pleading for their pregnancy while in Labour.
It is clear that if this man is who he claims to be, his slanderous observations towards Jews, specially Ashkenazi Jews, whom have had High Halachic Standards throughout history, and knowing how he praises Jews converting to Christianity as a Good thing... I am assuming that this Anti-Semite is himself a closeted convert to Christianity. I have never seen such hate and vile towards Jews coming from a religious Jew. This man single-handedly set back Jewish reputation centuries... promoting Age-Old lies.
Throughout the book it is clear that he praises Jews who betray their kin, denouncing other Jews to cruel Gentile Inquisition and Progroms, as well as Jews who choose to convert to Christianity, but condemns heavily those who seek unity and protect their Jewish brethren.
What confuses me the most about this is how a son of the Chief Rabbi of Italy could spread so many lies about Jewish rituals, Holiday observance and Halacha. The only conclusion that got to my head was that he must have converted to Christianity very early on and wasn't taught by his father anything about Jewish Religion.
I'd understand some mistakes and misconceptions if this was a Christian author, but this is supposedly a Jewish Author, but he is spreading the same lies and misconceptions about Judaism ,Jewish Holidays and traditions that Christians and muslims are.
The only plausible conclusion is that this individual is doing so maliciously and has an Anti-Jewish agenda. Furthemore his praise for Jewish converts to Christianity and cowards who betray other Jews for Christians, shows that he has a weird alliegnce to Christendom while showing bigoted views towards Jews, specially those of Ashkenazic Origin.
In conclusion this individual single-handedly contributed to the propagation of hate and common Anti-Semitic Libels, shows deep ignorance of Talmud, Torah, Halacha and Kabbalah.... and is still allowed to teach at Tel-Aviv University ( and his former Bar Ilan University defended his book).
It is outrageous that Jewish Parents are paying taxes for their kids to be sent to an institution that Employs anti-Semites. Not Surprisingly BDS movements are known to have a foothold on these campuses.
How can we permit someone with such poor research skills and such a vile hatred towards his fellow Jew to hold a position in an Institution that is supposed to educate Jewish youth?
This Author not only has very poor research skills and biased view. I think he should be forced to resign from his position at Tel-Aviv University. Clearly he is not retracting his Allegations and Anti-Ashkenazi hate propaganda.
He have a very ignorant View of Kabbalah, and very stereotypical hateful views of the Ashkenazi tradition. How such a biased person can be allowed to teach in a serious University and how people can be Oblivious to his blatant prejudice is beyond me.
The Author never truly retracted his slanderous book, he just minimized its impact by saying it was only a few " extremist" Jews who did that... however all throughout the book there's a gloomy, uncomfortable feeling of hate towards Jews, specially Ashkenazim, and an odd apologetic view of Christian Crimes against Jews. This doesn't add up.
It's weird.
